Koi Fish

A creature design and modeling exercise done while studying at CG Spectrum, freely based on Butterfly Koi fishes.
What called my attention was the almost human qualities that some pictures of this fish could evoke... like being old, wise and grumpy :)
The hardest part of this illustration was finding an appealing pose and nice silhouette for the sculpt.
I might fully texture and ray trace render this model in the future.
Sculpted in ZBrush, retopoed and Uv'd in Maya, some additional details of the displacement painted in Mudbox, rendered in ZBrush, composited in Photoshop.
